Nail Strip Water Decals from Born Pretty

Heeeeeeyyyyy you guys! So if you follow my FB page, you may have seen a little notice I posted  about 2 weeks ago saying that the video card on my laptop had crashed and I wouldn't be able to post while it was getting fixed. I finally got it back Monday and have been trying to catch up on editing photos and putting together posts.

Today I have some more Born Pretty goodies. I love nail strips in any form. They are such a great way to add a little something extra to a basic mani. These strips from Born Pretty are a different sort than any I have tried. Instead of being a peel and stick strip, they are water decal strips!

Since these are water decals, you would apply them a little differently than your average nail strip. I found them to be a little on the sheer side, so I painted a white base on my nail first before I applied the decals. After the white base was dry, I cut out the strip I was going to use from the sheet, grabbed it with a pair of tweezers and soaked it in a cup of room temp water for about 20 seconds. Once it was thoroughly wet, I slid it off the paper backing and placed it (shiny side up) onto my nail. After it was lined up like I wanted (if it gets a little sticky, you can dip your finger into the water and it will loosen up a little so you can readjust it) I used an orange stick to gently press it down on all the edges and smooth out any air bubbles. I folded the strip down over the free edge of my nail and lightly filed the excess off. After all that I used my KBShimmer COT topcoat to seal the strip.

I wore these for several days and got really good wear time from the strips. They didn't start to lift up along the edges like a lot of nail strips tend to do. The most noticeable wear was along the free edge of my nails. They came off easily with a cotton ball and a bit of nail polish remover.

One big draw back I found is that there are only 10 strips on each sheet so if your nail beds are smaller or larger than average, you might have a hard time finding one that fit.

Out of all the strips I have tried, these definitely last the longest, and though it may seem like using them is a bit more involved, they are fairly easy to apply. And no where near as difficult as some (Jamberry, I'm looking at you!). If you are interested in trying them out for yourself, or any other Born Pretty product I have shown on the blog, be sure to use my exclusive discount code GETG10 for a 10% discount on your order.

I am so glad to be back and I am really looking forward to posting again!
